So, you’re probably thinking, “Awe, so
cute, but what does this have to do with aviation?!” Well, little Mamel Joella, son of a Gambian
diplomat and wife, Kaba Fatoumatta [mother], was born on a plane at 38,000 feet
in the air! Thank goodness two doctors
and a nurse were on the same flight to help assist the 17-year-old woman!
By the way, this is not the first case
of this kind. In January 2013, a woman
delivered a baby girl, whom she named after the flight attendant that organized
the delivery, on a flight from Russia to Armenia. Likewise, in August 2012, another woman gave
birth on an Emirates flight from Dubai to Manila, naming her child EK since it
was the airline’s flight code.

I think giving birth sounds terrifying enough, I can't even imagine what it would be like to give birth on a plane in the middle of nowhere! But it must be a really cool story for the moms and helpers, and of course the kids. :)
ReplyDeleteBrittany, I agree! I use to think I was special because I flew across the U.S. at 3 months, but not after reading this! haha
ReplyDeleteWow, this child will definitely have cool stories to tell when they're making new friends at school! I thought having to give birth in an ambulance would be terrifying, I can't imagine this. However, if I were pregnant enough to possibly go into birth at any time, I probably wouldn't step foot on an airplane unless it was a completely unavoidable situation. Although, anything can happen, these babies could've been weeks early! Now whenever I have kids I'm going to be super scared to get on a plane, no matter how far along I am. haha
