Saturday, March 8, 2014, a 87-year old man was flying his plane at the South Lakeland Airport in Mulberry intending while another 47-year old man was parachuting in the same area.  Then the parachute's strings became entangled with the passenger-side wing and cut them.  He was then flung to the ground from a height of 75 ft., and the plane nose dived right into the ground.  Both men were brought to the hospital, but no serious injuries were present.

The pictures of the crash were very interesting, and a constant reminder of the dangers of flying even in our current day.  Also, the importance of being careful as a parachutist, and make sure that you have a clear landing in site and to avoid passing planes to avoid such events as this one.
