Blog Post 4

There has been a lot of talk of aviation in the news with the recent disappearance of a Malaysia Airlines jet over the past weekend. It is still very up in the air as to what may have happened to this flight as it lost communication over the South China Sea and there were no signs of distress prior. One of the major concerns is the investigation of two potentially stolen passports used to enter the flight leading to the questioning of a breakdown in airport security. This is even more concerning as the experts are saying that the most problems and disasters in flight occur during take off and landing as opposed to cruising speeds without any previous signs of issues with the flight.

Experts are also puzzled by this because of the fact that the Boeing 777 is one of the safest aircraft used today. According to records this flight would only be the second fatal accident in the plane since its debut in passenger transportation in 1995.

Investigators are looking into a wide variety of potential causes of this disappearance including weather, structural problems, pilot fault, engine failure, bombing, or hijacking. Officials are stating that they have no room to yet to speculate what the cause may have been.
